Tabantha Frontier, Hyrule. [12/26].

Early the next morning, after breakfast and arranging horses to make the trip far easier and swifter, the group set off across the Hyrule Field, to the northwest, toward the sweeping plains and steep mountains of the Tabantha Frontier, home of the Rito, Hyrule's proud and musical bird race.

It would be another long journey, but hopefully one well-worth the travel, with more than enough to captivate the visitors on the scenic and exciting path.

Warbler's Nest - 12/16.

Located on the other side of Lake Totori is Warbler's Nest, a special place where ancient stones produce music from the wind blowing through the holes in them. It's an incredibly popular place for Rito children to practice their singing, and they're incredibly eager to perform to their strange guests today, as well!

Bird children eager to perform their songs to visitors?

Breq was just going to sit down and listen for a while, but then there was another song, and another one... Of course, she wasn't the right species to be able to sing them herself, but she could still hum along, making sure to smile and nod to the Rito children now and then.

They might get bored before she did.

Tip came over to sit next to her.

"It's like the perfect Breq vacation place," she said softly, so as not to interrupt the singers.

This place was amazing.

"It's beautiful, isn't it?" Breq said, distracted enough by the music that she forgot to smile.

"They really seem to enjoy it too."

Tip didn't mind. She'd gotten used to Breq's lack of expressions. "It is," she said. "And they do. It must be really nice to have a natural teacher like this. Like the world itself is showing you how it's done."

"Me too. Sidon comes off as so strange in Fandom, but coming here . . . he fits. Not just because his people come from here, his whole personality just . . . fits, you know?"

"I know what you mean," Breq said. "Despite that castle yesterday, this seems like one of the kinder worlds I've seen."

Breq turned her head to look at Tip, now smiling.

"It's like Sidon faces all the things Fandom throws at him as if it was something like that," Breq said, then added: "I saved him once when he was being reckless. Apparently that makes me some kind of hero among his people. It's embarrassing of course, but I understand that's just how his people are."

Tip nodded. Personally, it didn't surprise her at all that someone thought of Breq as a hero. "Can I ask what happened?"

"Oh, it was that time people were brainwashed and wanted to perform a ritual," she said. "Sidon was trying to be too heroic."

Unsurprisingly.

"Sounds like him, alright." Tip shuddered. "That was one of my least favorite weird things the island has done."

"It wasn't fun, no," Breq said, her thoughts on the one she had found the worst. This wasn't the place to talk about the dead returning though. No place was, probably.

"Last week wasn't too bad at least," Tip said. "Other than the cold. And the dancing."

The dancing had just been weird.

"I missed the dancing," Breq said. "But it sounds better than killing things."

Not that she had a problem with killing things when it was necessary, but dancing was definitely better.

"The snow monsters were apparently quite resistant to being killed. But yeah, it would be anyway."

"So they were," Breq said. "Dancing was also more efficient, it seemed. I wish that was usually the case."

"Usually it's probably talking," Tip mused. "Though sometimes a fair amount of subterfuge and running is required."

Breq thought for a moment. "In many places that would be considered a peaceful way to solve things."

"Mostly the talking, but subterfuge too," Breq said. "In my experience people easily resort to shooting things."

Tip frowned and nodded. "Yeah. Definitely." She was not a big fan of shooting things, no.
