Tabantha Frontier, Hyrule. [12/26].

Early the next morning, after breakfast and arranging horses to make the trip far easier and swifter, the group set off across the Hyrule Field, to the northwest, toward the sweeping plains and steep mountains of the Tabantha Frontier, home of the Rito, Hyrule's proud and musical bird race.

It would be another long journey, but hopefully one well-worth the travel, with more than enough to captivate the visitors on the scenic and exciting path.

Morning at the Wetland Stable - 12/26.

Take some time to wake up, grab some breakfast, and get to know your horse and catch up with the others before setting out for the next leg of the adventure.

The Road to Rito Village - 12/26.

The road to Rito Village starts out with rough, dry land, until the green returns thanks to a series of bogs created by the stormy weather of the Seres Scablands and Ludfo's Bog, where there's sure to be a terrible storm brewing over its strange, flat-topped trees.

Which is why Sidon is electing to take a longer route via river to avoid the potentially deadly for him storm; he'd be pleased if anyone would like to join him, though he believes the overland route would be much easier for most them.

Once you make it through the thunderplains, once past the Great Tabantha Bridge over the wide chasm of the Tanagar Canyon, the land opens up into rocky, grassy plains, dotted with pines and ridges of small mountains, the cold and towering far in the distances.

And emerging from the deeply sunken Lake Totori, on a great rocky spire that reaches toward the heavens, circled by a great mechanical bird, is Rito Village.

Just be careful! There is no lack of Guardians, bokoblin camps, and at least one stone talus on the way out!

Rito Village - 12/26.

The Rito are a kind and polite people who are perhaps a bit surprised to be visited by so many new people all at once, but they are pleased to share their hospitality, their work, and their songs. The variety of their bright plummage offers them a more unique range of appearances, especially compared to the majority of the Zora.

The guests reach the village after a series of bridges connecting the spires standing out of the lake, where they'll then find a serious of walkways and stairs connecting the open aired huts that provide homes and businesses for the Rito as it climbs up the tallest stone spire. The views from anywhere along the village are spectacular, especially with many open balconies from which the Rito often take flight. Just bring a sweater if you plan to climb toward the top; the winds coming off of the Hebra Mountains will cause quite a chill!

The Swallow's Roost - 12/26.

Cozy and comfortable, the Swallow's Roost is the inn where the guests will be staying, with the offer of incredibly comfortable Rito-down comforters to make their stay particularly lovely. Though it is one of the lower huts on the spire, it still offers magnificent views of the surrounding area as well as a comfortable place to rest and relax.

After, like, her conversation with Vette Nina eventually dragged herself back to the inn.

Mostly so she could dramatically flop down on her bed, bury her face under her pillow, and consider all the terribly embarrassing ways talking to Prompto seriously could actually go.

Ugh.

But she'd do it. She owed him that.

Shops - 12/26.

The Slippery Falcon general store and the Brazen Beak armory are both excellent places to pick up supplies or admire Rito handiwork; the Falcon even had a cookbook for perusal, should anyone wish to try their hand at some Rito delicacies in the communal kitchen.

Vette was pretty set on adventure for the day, deciding to take advantage of today to do some shopping. And that was why she was peering into the armory, yes, with a curious look about her while she contemplated everything about this place.

Avian people living in treehouses in the mountains?

They were like the Rishii people of Rishi! Maybe with an economy slightly less focused on local pirate activity, but the similarities were astounding. And she'd always kind of wanted to visit Rishi...

Prompto had been kind of thinking he wasn't bothering Yang nearly enough on this trip, and thought about maybe seeing what she was up to, but then he saw her heading toward the top of the big spire at the center of this place, and...ahahaha, no. Why would he actively go and make an idiot of himself when he could, uh, you know, go shopping instead?

He had a pocket full of rupees after yesterday, after all, burning a hole, and he'd realized he also had started up a trend of buying sweet local duds in various places he'd gotten to visit since coming to school here. And the Rito aesthetic was really sweet, and they were more than helpful helping him pick out something that would look good, and even helped him do his hair with one of their neat little headdresses.

He made sure to get plenty of selfies, too, to send to the guys to let him know what they thought.

Warbler's Nest - 12/16.

Located on the other side of Lake Totori is Warbler's Nest, a special place where ancient stones produce music from the wind blowing through the holes in them. It's an incredibly popular place for Rito children to practice their singing, and they're incredibly eager to perform to their strange guests today, as well!

Breq was just going to sit down and listen for a while, but then there was another song, and another one... Of course, she wasn't the right species to be able to sing them herself, but she could still hum along, making sure to smile and nod to the Rito children now and then.

They might get bored before she did.

For whatever else catches your attention around Rito Village. Hang out at the Stable nearby, settle in to enjoy the view from one of many platforms around the village, try to climb to the top of the spire for a better look at the circling Divine Beast Vah Medoh in the sky. Take in some archery tips for the Rito or learn how to best accessorize with feathers while still keeping it tasteful. Your catch-all thread for whatever else you might like to pursue.

Nina was totally going to try and climb the spire later, to get a better look at another divine beast, for for now, she was tucking herself in comfortably to just soak in the view on one of the platforms in the village, her diary in her lap, a pen tucked behind one ear as she gazed out at the vistas spread around her.

It was a little chilly, but she had a blanket, and honestly, she didn't mind being a little chilly when the view was like this.

Oh, ugh. It wasn't surprising, really, after yesterday's misstep--she'd been, like, super obvious about not wanting to be around them--but ugh, Nina didn't want to do this.

Nina considered getting up but short of flinging herself off a ledge, she wasn't sure it'd be easy to lose Vette.

And she didn't really want Vette flinging herself off a ledge after her either.

She just sighed, instead, and said, "Go away??????"

Vette's lekku twitched and her frown deepened. She did her best to keep the sting off her face, but that... wasn't happening, apparently.

"Why? What did I do?" She turned to look at Nina, at a loss. "You have to tell me, you know! You can't just avoid me for a week like we don't have to share a room together when we go back!"

And while all his friends were getting settled and exploring the breezy Rito Village, Sidon was engaging himself in a little bit of history, a diplomatic meeting with the current chief of the Rito, an monumental event, really, considering neither of them could recall a point in history where such a meeting had occurred. It gave him quite a great deal to mull over, a lot of important insight and unanswered questions about the future of Hyrule, about the Champions they both so tragically lost, about their respective Divine Beasts and the undeniable disquiet that seemed to settle all across the land.

They were heavy thoughts, really, too heavy to bring to his guests, who he just wanted to have fun and enjoy his unique and beautiful world, so he'd slipped away, toward the base of the spire, in the area with all the long grass and the tall trees, standing thoughtfully at the edge of the cliff, facing Zora's Domain and Vah Ruta almost without realizing it, contemplating just how high they were and whether a dive down into Lake Totori would be wise. It was a decent even greater than anything back home, you could barely see the water down there! It would be an incredible dive, but he knew enough about the deep, deep basin to know that he would have a very difficult time getting back up without any waterfalls to help him.

So he just stood, and thought, and waited, until his somber mood passed, and he could rejoin the others and make the acquaintance of all the Rito and continue to be the Ambassador Prince he now realized meant more than he could have ever imagined.

Oh, this place was interesting! Lana had never actually met an avian species before, though she'd seen them in holos. She was going to spend an awful lot of time trying not to gawk like a rude tourist, and the best way for that seemed to actually be to talk to them, so she'd be striking up conversations with just about everyone she met.

Luckily, Rito Village was such a popular tourist destination among Hylians that they were quite used to that particular sort of reaction, and one of them offered her a pleasant nod of greeting. "Your first visit?" she guessed with a kind trill to her voice.

Far be it from Sidon to assume that, just because they were coming off of a rather terrible snowstorm back in Fandom, no one would be interested in experiencing the snow vistas that the nearby Hebra Mountains might have to offer! Not only does the place provide some excellent mountain climbing, but there is also a special flight range for a unique target training experience, as well as shield surfing and snow bowling!
