Hyrule. Thurdsay, [05/03 FT].

After it was generally ~~and mostly handwavily~~ decided that the group would use their extra day in Hyrule to visit the far reaches of the land in the Gerudo Desert, Sidon wished them well with his regrets that he would not be able to join them. Sure, winter on Fandom Island had definitely tested his ability to withstand different weather, but he knew the heat of the desert would still be far too much for him. Besides, he would never be able to pass as a vai in order to enter the city, so he would just wait for them back at Zora's Domain.

"I would say to call if anything goes amiss," he said before they left, "but after yesterday, I am not too sure that would be a possible solution."

But Ramella, the Gerudo guide, assured the prince that she would keep them from harm, and they gathered their horses, and set off to the southwest for the next and final leg of their adventure.

It is a long but scenic journey through Hyrule, racing past the potential danger of more Guardians on your steadfast steeds (and one quick, clever pony). They'll pass through many more ruins of what Hyrule once was, including a colluseum looming from atop a mountain. They'll skirt around the base of the Great Plateau, its decorated stone walls reaching high above, often crumbling or overrun by plants. They'll pass over the three connected Digdogg Suspension Bridge which will lead them along the bottom of the canyons of the Gerudo Pass, where the pale stone cliffs rise high on either side to guide their way to the Gerudo Canyon Stable. There, they'll board their horses before heading out to the desert.

And even, for one of the more...spiritually inclined guests, a slight glance to the sky might reveal something unexpected in the sky.

Just outside Gerudo Town is the Kara Kara Bazaar, a small oasis around a small lake where one might prepare for the harsh heat of the desert, stock up on supplies (including a ton of hydromelons), enjoy the shade and the water before the dry desert surrounding them. It may also be a good place to consider...appropriate attire for the next stop.

No men allowed! the Gerudo Town has a strict rule against men (or voe, as they're called) inside their city walls, but that is a detail that...might be easier to get around than one might expect. But once inside, the travelers will find themselves in a female-only haven for shopping, relaxing at the spa, or even train with the guard. You could even take a class on how to interact with voe in the outside world and learn all about Gerudo dating culture!

Don't forget the opportunity to rent a sand seal for some seal surfing, too!

Just watch out for more lizalfos; these ones will electrify you, too!

Settle in for the chilly Gerudo evening at the Hotel Oasis, where you'll enjoy some local, spice heavy food and sleep comfortably before heading back out for Zora's Domain in the morning.

I'll try to ping in with some NPC Gerudo here and there when my brain is a little less awful, but have fun and mod willingly in the meantime!

Norman was loving everything about this, honestly. He'd never seen anything like any of it back in Blithe Hollow, ruins and the natural wonders alike.

And none of those things could compare in the least to the moment he looked up to see something spectral and sinuous, lazily winding its way up toward the heavens. He gasped, stopping in his tracks and staring, though to anybody else it would look as though he was just staring up at an empty sky.

It was breathtaking, green lights creeping along the creature's body, legs grasping at air and propelling itself forward as though it was running on nothing at all.

No, Norman hadn't really given much thought to the difficulty of getting into the Gerudo Town later on. He'd sort of just assumed that he'd wait outside the city walls, busying himself with... drawing in the sand or something... while the ladies all had fun. He didn't mind, really. He'd pack some hydromelon and have a picnic or something.

Whenever Peridot could, she found herself kind of brushing up against the stone structures as they passed ruins and walls.

She wasn't going to admit it outright, but it was all so very reminiscent of home. The desert, the canyon, the intricate stone structures... She wouldn't have been surprised to see Gem injectors around the next corner, though she was always a little disappointed when they weren't there.

Peridot wasn't certain how she'd wound up in the class for impressing voe, no. She had little interest in dating, after all, though it did give her some insight as to how matriarchal societies worked when they were organic, rather than Gem.

Organic or not, this town was making her even more homesick. She spent a lot of time just kind of sighing as she took in a city that had been constructed with a certain feminine sensibility. Not that she was technically female, either. But with Gems, it was all really a matter of being close enough to count.

Naturally, the visitors had been the talk of the town, but this little Gerudo child didn't care for them too much. They all looked like boring adults, even if they looked like strange boring adults. This one, however, was clearly not boring....or an adult! She was even smaller that she was!

"Sav'aaq!" she bounced up and greeted the visitor brightly, eager for a new playmate. "Are you Goron?"

The stranger was certainly unlike any Goron she'd ever seen before, but, then again, she hadn't seen many Gorons.

Peridot blinked at the Gerudo child. And then looked back over her shoulder, blinking some more.

And then looked back at the child. And pointed to herself in question.

"Me?"

Breq had been looking for Norman.

"Well?" she said. "What's your plan?"

He wasn't going to stay here alone, after all.

Norman blinked over at Breq, confused. And still maybe a little bit overwhelmed after spotting that dragon earlier.

"... Plan? I need a plan?"

"They're not going to let you into the town unless they think you're female," Breq said. "We need to sort that out."

While she generally respected different cultures, she felt that if the Gerudo didn't notice, there was no harm done. And she had been built by Radchaai, so the issue didn't seem very important anyway.

Norman was still over here, blinking.

"We do?"

This was news to him!

"We can't just leave you here," Breq pointed out. "And the styles preferred by females here is different enough than those of males, so I'm sure you'll do fine. We just need to get you some clothes and makeup."

"I mean... I guess so?" Norman sounded a faint bit dazed, now. Sneaking into a city populated by warrior women seemed... dumb? Suicidal? Both? "I don't know how to do makeup at all, though."

Norman, you were surrounded by girls. That would probably not be a problem.

"No," the girl giggled, "the other green child in the plaza right now! Of course I mean you! My name's Isha, what's yours? We should be friends, I've never had a Goron friend before."

"I've helped people do that for a very long time," Breq informed him. "That won't be a problem. We should go looking for a shop that sells clothes though."

Did Norman look a little nervous? "Don't worry, we'll all protect you if necessary."

There were a lot of things going on in that statement that Peridot needed to protest. Child? Goron? What?

"Peridot," she settled on, because the child had asked her name. "I'm Peridot."

And it was possible that she as rolling with this at least in part because Isha reminded her a great deal of Steven.

Norman nodded a little.

"Uh, thanks? But I'll be the one breaking the rules," which didn't change the fact that he'd need protecting, granted. "What kind of clothes do I need?"

And what were they going to do about his hair?

Breq looked around them. "The more extravagant clothes seem to be a better choice. It's unlikely that anyone will mistake them from being men's clothes. And then some jewellery, perhaps."

There were plenty of things to do with his hair.

"O-okay," Norman replied, wide-eyed. "I'll let you pick what you think works best, then, since you've done this before?"

And because he was an utterly hopeless sneakers-and-hoodies boy.

"Good. Come on, then."

Breq turned and headed towards the bazaar.

And Norman followed along behind, in something of a daze.

He really would've just been happy waiting around with a hydromelon!

... Overnight. Alone. In the desert.
