"Hnnnngggh." Flooop. "Oof."

That there was the unique and distinct sound of a very small Zora struggling to climb out of a very large tank, managing to pull himself up and then tumble not very gracefully to the floor in a wet flop. But Sidon recovered quickly, sitting up, shaking his head, and letting out a little amazed gasp as he looked around the room. But the room wasn't very exciting, was it? Another little sound escaped him when he saw the door, there would surely be more exciting things beyond that door, he was pretty sure of it, and, with wide eyes, he thought of how much fun adventures were, anyway.

So he pushed himself up and jogged over to the door, his long, long looooong headtail flopping a little on the floor between his tiny little feet, and then he reached for the doorknob, eager to see what awaited him beyond.

Well, he tried to reach for it. But he couldn't reach it. He was just so small! "Ugn!" Sidon jumped, trying to reach up and grab the doorknob, but he still couldn't reach it. "Mmph!" He tried again, still no luck. He frowned, growling a little at the doorknob before making another attempt, with another little noise for the effort, and still couldn't really reach it, though his fingers did brush against the bottom of it, and he settled for a moment, his brain trying to work out how to solve this puzzle, but he was determined to get it.

So he continued to jump. He continued to try. And would likely keep continuing like this for a while now.

He was just so small!

[[hahaha, I lied. Post is open!]]

Arriving back to the island, Sidon discovered that the holiday had stirred up inside of him a great deal of mixed and somewhat confused, though not at all bad, feelings. He was eager to be back, of course; he had promised Mipha that he would enjoy himself and he had, and now it was time to fulfill the other promises he had made, to keep diligently improving himself and fighting and striving forward so that, when the time came to rise against Calamity Ganon again, he'd be ready. The distraction that Greece had provided had been...spectacular. And potent. Even just thinking back on the week idly managed to produce its own distraction of considerable effectiveness, a small smile brightening his face unconsciously, his mind already wandering off into trying to think of the best way to thank Vette for being such wonderful company.

(Despite the fact, of course, that it was he who providing the tour and the breakfast and the swimming lessons. Middling, minor details, really).

But he couldn't think about that now. He had to get his mind back into business mode, back into the task at hand, the reason he was here, to learn, to strengthen himself, to be better. And he'd already decided that he would channel that into getting back into regular fighting form with his weapons almost as soon as he landed back in Fandom. Though it was very clear to him last night that a more important task needed to be tackled first...

His tank. A week away without use or upkeep was no good for his tank at all, so it would seem that his Sunday would be dedicated to the all-important task of cleaning, maintaining, and refilling the darned thing, which was certainly an all-day event that, at the very least, proved to be another effective distraction, not just from the visiting specter of his long-gone sister but also from the more recent, much warmer specter of longing for the bright Mediterranean Sea.

That feeling that Sidon had carried with him for most of the week seemed to have dissipated, and now that it was gone, he found he rather missed it. There had been something so comforting about it. But without much to distract him from the whole ebb and flow of emotions he'd been feeling, he still found himself going for another swim that evening, a good swim. He needed to get more of those in before the water became too cold anyway.

After, he settled on the beach to look up at the night sky growing with stars and just...thinking. Watching the waves. Watching....something in the waves? Whatever it was, it moved fast. Very fast. Not as fast as him, but most certainly Zora fast, and he thought he saw...no. It couldn't be. He had Mipha on his mind, so of course he would think he saw her out there in the water.

Still, he slowly stood, lifting a hand as if that would help him see further, and the thing in the water stopped. It was looking at him. And, making his heart leap up in his throat, he realized it was headed straight for him.

[[ for the dead sister! But it''s also an open space, so it's also totally open after her, if'n you don't mind a bit of SP ]]

It should really be of no surprise to anyone that Sidon had been spending most of his time out in the ocean, especially since he hadn't any classes to help fill out his days a little more. He never liked being inside the dorms for too long, anyway, finding them dry and constricted, and why would he want to deal with that when the ocean was so vast and open and wonderful? He could easily waste an entire day exploring the waters around the island and the mainland shore, and even with all the time he spent out there, he still managed to always find something new and interesting to captivate and delight him.

Of course, when he was out that Friday, far out from the island and testing the limits of the current and just how deep he could go, he discovered something that he thought couldn't possibly be what he thought it was, half-buried in the ocean floor, with just enough of obnoxiously bright paint that could have even been seen from space that had miraculously avoided being as charred as the rest of it. He did a double-take, then swam back around to dig the Fish back up, his laugh drifting toward the surface in a flurry of bubbles.

And the first thing he did when he had the Fish back in his hands was hurry back to the dorms he avoided so much, into the room where he had no doubt his roommate would be, probably hunched over a book or glued to some spreadsheet on her computer.

"Paris!" Sidon burst (well, ducked, then burst) through the door. "You'll never believe what I've just found!"

It had been nearly a year, but he was so pleased to finally have something to bond with his roommate about. Even if that bond was basically just him lording the Fish that she'd yet to win over her.

[[ IT HAS RETURNED! Obviously, Sidon's here for his poor roommate, but the post is open after their thread! ]]

Ahh, yes, indeed, Sidon was practically floating on the sweet high that came along with victory, unscathed by paint despite showering his enemies with it, and, for his efforts and strategy, he had in his hands the coveted fish that had caused so much excitement over the past few weeks. Holding it, he hardly felt worthy of such a prize, but his heart danced with excitement, as he'd thought about doing this last week, and now, lo and behold, it was to come true, almost as if he himself were a very prophet.

Keeping a close eye out for the nefarious and notorious thieves that have attempted to claim the prize despite not having earned it, Sidon slipped away to his room with the prize held tight under his arm, where he went to his tank and promptly slipped the fish in.

"There, my amphibious brethren!" he declared as the backboard on the fish slowly started to drag it down, down, down toward the bottom of the large tank. "Finally, you may rest in the calm waters that I am certain you crave, soak in the sweet embrace of the water! I know you are but gears and wires and whatever else has been added to you in the course of these challenging events, but for now, for this week, rest and be free to enjoy the simple spirit of the waves, which surely lurks deep within you, though you are but mechanical and not actually a real fish."

And with that beatitude, Sidon himself slipped into the tank, reaching down to press the button that ignited the fish's sweet siren song, distorted and warbled now by the water. He sighed, closing his eyes contentedly, and listened.

Almost like whales calling to each other in the vast moonlit night...

[[I blame the fact that Wednesday is also cheap ass wine pour day at my bar. Door and post are open!]]

After the feast, after the festivities, after everyone had started to wind down and perhaps become less likely to notice that they were gone, Sidon lead Norman along the mountain pass, up the long and glistening stairs to take them to the very top of the towering dam to the platform that looked over the East Reservoir Lake. And sitting there at the center, with the backdrop of the sky painted from the sunset, was Vah Ruta, calm and still as it had been since the day it ceased to move, from the day its Champion had died.

At least, calm and still was how it appeared to Sidon's eyes, but for the person joining him? He drew in a deep breath, narrowing his eyes, as if trying to see what Norman might.

"Well," he said, "there it is. Can you...can you see anything? Should we move closer?"

[[What? You think we could just end the trip on sunshine and rainbows?? For He Who Sees Dragons]]
in_sidon_we_trust: ([hyrule] - zora's domain)
Out of the desert and back to the cool, refreshing waters of Zora's Domain, it was the final day for the Hyrule trip, and Sidon had arranged for his friends to arrive to a wonderful party held in their honor. He and the other Zora had hung up bright and colorful banners and he'd convinced someone from the Wetland Stable to come up to the Domain to prepare a feast: Fish Pie and Seafood Paella, but also non-fish meat dishes, like Poultry Pilaf and Spicy Pepper Steak. And, of course, Creamy Heart Soup to celebrate the closeness of their friendship! There was Fruitcake and Nutcake, fresh bread and Honeyed Fruits. Sidon had tried his hand at a little cooking himself, but the results were a little dubious. Either way, his friends would certainly be eating well tonight!

And then relaxing in the peaceful Domain over stories of their adventure out into Hyrule, which he could hardly wait to hear. He was just glad they were back and they were safe and they would all return to Fandom Island with the shared experiences of his beloved homeland.

...But was it too early to start planning for the next trip back? There was still so much left to see!

[[ and the final Hyrule post! No OCD on this one, and a big gigantic thank you to the guests for making it so delightful to revisit this place with fresh eyes again!]]
in_sidon_we_trust: (go long!)
After it was generally and mostly handwavily decided that the group would use their extra day in Hyrule to visit the far reaches of the land in the Gerudo Desert, Sidon wished them well with his regrets that he would not be able to join them. Sure, winter on Fandom Island had definitely tested his ability to withstand different weather, but he knew the heat of the desert would still be far too much for him. Besides, he would never be able to pass as a vai in order to enter the city, so he would just wait for them back at Zora's Domain.

"I would say to call if anything goes amiss," he said before they left, "but after yesterday, I am not too sure that would be a possible solution."

But Ramella, the Gerudo guide, assured the prince that she would keep them from harm, and they gathered their horses, and set off to the southwest for the next and final leg of their adventure.

[[ day three, almost done! OCD incoming has arrived!!]]
in_sidon_we_trust: (go long!)
Sidon came down to the Seabed Inn bright and early to greet his friends over breakfast and fill them in on the plan. "I do hope you've all been enjoying yourself so far," he said with his usual eager smile. "I noticed Tula and Tona speaking with a few of you; I hope they did not chatter your ears off! It's so funny, though, they're so talkative with other people, but they seem to just clam right up whenever I'm around. Strange."

Ah, you sweet, oblivious sharkman. He almost looked a little sad about it for a brief second, but he shook his head and focused on the task at hand. "But anyway, I hope you're feeling up to an adventure today! I was thinking we might go down the mountain, the Hyrule Field, so that I might show some of you a closer look at the Calamity I'm always talking about. There's a stable there, too, where we can consider renting horses that'll allow us to reach another area of Hyrule as well, since we've got the time to explore a little. What say you? It's a lovely journey, but we must also be careful, as there is danger out there as well, but I know this is a group that could handle whatever trouble might cross our paths!"

[[second verse, very similar but not exactly the same as the first! And I've got OCD coming, of course! up!]]
in_sidon_we_trust: ([hyrule] - zora's domain)
Swept away bright and early that morning from the convenient Portalocity offices, Sidon and his guests arrived with ease at the base of the Ne'ez Yohma shrine, nestled behind the main courtyard of the magnificent Zora's Domain, nestled in the mountains of the Great Lanayru Spring and gleaming in the morning sun after a light rain.

"Everyone here?" Sidon asked, looking around before drawing in a deep breath of that fresh Lanayru air and sighing happily. "Wonderful! Welcome to Zora's Domain! Please, make yourselves at home, my friends; I'm going to go speak with my father to let him know we've arrived, but as everyone is expecting you, they will be most helpful and accomodating. Come on, then, don't be shy! Though...I suppose you might want to remove your shoes, unless you'd prefer soaked boots!"

And with a dazzling, sharp smile, he pumped his fist, and swung his arm to encourage them to follow him as he hurried up the steps, splashing through the shallow water. "Let's go!"

[[for those with the royal invitations! Please mind the OCD up! Have at it, friends]]
in_sidon_we_trust: (look to the side)
Well, then, that was a bit unexpected! Sidon had received a message last week informing him that sweet little Dunma had officially hit her growth spurt and completed her training well before expected, and they were going to make her an official guard as soon as the prince could return to be there for the event. Naturally, he could have waited until next week when he was intending to come home before the summer semester anyway, but far be it from him to make Dunma wait! He knew how hard she'd worked to become a guard like her father, and, since his classes were finished, he saw no reason why not to take the extra trip.

One thing was also certain: his desire to invite his friends to come with him to see his home had grown significantly in just his brief stay, and he'd only had a brief amount of time before returning to find them all and invite them. Now he had to wonder if he should make them all formal and in person or go a more Earth-like route with pretty written ones.

In the meantime, since he hardly had much to unpack, he went to check his tank to make sure the water salinity and temperature were kept while he was away, as well as pull up some of the radio broadcast to be filled in on what he may have missed while away.

[[and thus a convenient excuse for my boy getting ignored while my girls took over. Open door, open post!]]

"Hello! Thanks to the wonderful technology of this phenomenal little device, it appears that you can leave messages for me, Sidon, Prince of the Zora, to be listened to at a later date by myself, so that we might keep in contact even when we cannot speak face to face! Isn't that fantastic? The technology of this world really is the best! And do you know who else is the best? You are! So I eagerly await your message with hope and anticipation, and I shall strive to do my best to respond in an expedient and appreciative way! Ha-ha! Marvelous!"
