Hyrule Field; Hyrule. Tuesdday [12/25 FT].

After yesterday had been mostly relaxing and exploring the area and getting comfortable around Zora's Domain, today would be quite the day of thrilling adventure and travel!And even though Sidon didn't possess quite the same pride for the rest of Hyrule that he had for Zora's Domain, he was still eager (and perhaps more than a little nervous) to show his friends more of his homeland and some of the things it had to offer.

He came down to the Seabed Inn bright and early to greet his friends over breakfast and fill them in on the plan. "I do hope you've all been enjoying yourself so far," he said with his usual eager smile. "We've got quite the adventure ahead of us today! Some of you may remember our journey to Hyrule Field last time; we'll be heading back that way, staying at the stable there before moving on to Rito Village tomorrow! I've never been there myself, so it'll be exciting for everyone involved! But while we're out on the Field, I believe I know of something else that might interest quite a few of you...but we'll wait until we're there before I'll tell you more."

A little mystery never hurt anyone, now, did it?

Despite being a little unfamiliar with it, Kodah has fried up some fish and vegetables for the guests to enjoy, and she tried her hand at that sushi stuff Sidon had told her about last time. They were still working on getting pizza right, but at least you could guarantee that the fish was fresh. Take a moment to fuel up, chat with Sidon about the plans, or chat with each other about the visit so far.

Breq made sure to smile when she got her food understanding that Kodah had made an effort to prepare something foreign.

"Thank you," she said. "I'll be well prepared for the rest of the day."

And Kodah easily smiled back. "Oh, think nothing of it! We couldn't very well send the lot of you out of the safety of the domain and into the wilderness and leave you unprepared!" she noted with a faint laugh. "As I understand it, you've all got quite the adventure ahead of you!"

Ask not about Anakin's ways, but when Paris came down for breakfast, she had a heavy, colorfully decorated gift from Sidon's secret...gift giving person...thing.

The heavy, colorfully decorated gift was a little hard to not notice, yes. "Ah, good morning, Paris," Sidon greeted his currently-everyone-else's-roommate with a nod and a smile. "I trust you slept well?"

It seemed impolite, after all, to ask about what that was she had with her straight away.

"It's slightly less weird this year," Paris said agreeably. Ish.

She shoved the package over. "A gremlin gave me this to give to you. I don't ask."

Slightly less weird was considerable improvement, as far as Sidon was concerned, knowing Paris as he did now from all the time he'd spent living with her so far, so he grinned a little to hear it and took the package with a grateful bow of his head.

"Yes, it's probably best not to ask in situations like that, I suppose, and not just because I'm not sure anyone can really understand the gremlins' language, anyway."

It should be worrisome that he'd been considering triyng to learn, shouldn't it? But for now, he merely inspected the package curiously. "You don't suppose this is part of that holiday gift exchange thing? Did you participate? I've yet to receive mine, so perhaps my 'secret Santa" arranged for me to receive it today even though I'd be away from the island! How considerate of them!"

"I think it's probably from your secret Santa," Paris agreed, nodding. "I got gel pens from mine and a planner for next year. It was...pretty okay."

Winding through the mountains, following the path of the twisting Zora River is a path leading down to the Hyrule field. It's a long trip, but a beautiful one, marked by graceful lampposts that match the aesthetic of the palace. But don't let the beauty of the path fool you. There may be danger lurking in those rocks!

(Lizalfos. It's almost certainly lizalfos.)

It was lovely, reminding Lana of the equatorial regions of Dromund Kaas, or maybe of pictures she'd seen of Alderaan.

The lizalfos were faster than gundarks, though, if not as strong. Still, she got to practice some of her lightsaber techniques.

It was entirely possible that Yang was having a blast dealing with any lizalfos that made the terrible life decision to try and jump them.

Punch, kick, spin, shoot, punch again. The more the merrier, as far as Yang was concerned.

Finally, the party reaches the Wetland Stable, where they can rest up, buy supplies, find some weapons, rent horses, or pet adorable dogs. There's a helpful attendant at the counter and a few stablemen as well. There's also already a good view of the castle from here, as well as the mountains from which they just descended, hiding Zora's Domain from sight as if it was never there to begin with.

Sidon has brought anyone who'd like to come along close to the castle, dominationg the landscape, shrouded in dark swirling clouds of purple and black that envelope and circle the building like a living, breathing entity. The sheer volume of Calamity Ganon's evil fills the air, even from this safe distance. They are also not too far from the ruins of what looks like it used to be a town or a few buildings, a few homes reduced to rubble and rot.

"There's an entrance," Sidon, his eyes trained forward with determination, "into the castle, that one can approach by water from the north, through the old docks. I believe we can safely avoid the Guardians easy enough if anyone were to want to...investigate. The upper levels of the castle, of course, are far too dangerous and close to the Calamity, but I hear the lower levels are filled with far less peril, but still contain a fair bit of treasure worth finding."

And if he tried not to grin particular at Vette with that one, well, he clearly wasn't trying very hard. But it was a slightly nervous smile, because the idea was crazy, really, going treasure hunting in Hyrule Castle, but at the same time...

...and he also knew she wouldn't be the only one interested in taking the chance. If there were several of them, all keeping an eye on each other, maybe, just maybe, he might not end up wholly regretting it.

"We can take a raft or swim underneath the castle, and from there find your way in. I'm afraid I can only go as far as the docks, myself, as it will be too dangerous for me to continue further, but I'll be waiting there for when you return."

Breq wasn't in need of treasure herself, but she suspected others were, and she would of course protect them.

"So," she said. "Who's going?"

"On the one hand," said Prompto, grinning a little crookedly at Breq's question while his trigger finger twitched a little, "big, scary castle with ominous dark clouds swirling all around it. On the other hand? If there's not some real sick loot in that place, then I don't know where else it would be! So I'm...kiiiiind of on the fence about this one."

"On the fence? I thought you were the kind of person who considered all those things interesting," Breq deadpanned.

"Oh, it's definitely interesting," Prompto agreed with that emphatically, head bobbing in a nod. "But I gotta admit, my level of interest tends to wan proportionally to the level of, you know, possible death and destruction. I kind of like being alive and not killed by weird world-ruining entities."

"I won't argue against self-preservation," Breq said. "But if you decide to go I'll have your back."

"Thanks, Breq," Prompto said, smiling faintly for it. "Same to you. It helps, really, knowing that, at the very least, none of us are going in there alone."

And he, in particular, was going in there surrounded by bad-ass chicks.

So even if it sucked, what a way to go.

Breq would feel odd about being considered a bad-ass chick.

"Some kinds of heroism is better avoided," she said quietly so that Sidon wouldn't hear.

Treasure! Treasure treasure treasure treasure! Vette was practically vibrating with excitement as she looked at the castle - wow, she'd been in Sith tombs more inviting than that place - bouncing on her toes the entire time.

There was also absolutely a steady, high-pitched happy, 'eeeee' sound coming from her while she contemplated her approach, yes.

The closer they got to the castle, the more the heavy knot at the bottom of Sidon's stomach tightened, making him wonder what in the world had gotten into him, thinking this was even remotely a good idea, but then...

...there was that. A reaction like that was exactly what in the world had gotten into him, and fool-hearty though it was, he couldn't regret any of it in that moment.

And he certainly hoped he wouldn't regret all of it when it was all over.

"You know," he said, lowering his voice as he leaned in toward Vette, "if we're going in by water, I can get you to the underground entrance faster."

Which, true as it was, was mostly just an excuse to offer her a ride. If he was going to spend the next few hours wringing his fins nervously while they were all in there, he felt he should at least have something nice to focus on in the meantime.

"I'll never say no to a ride," Vette informed him, smiling impishly. "Don't worry, I won't go too far in once we're there. Making you wait forever without us? Sounds boring."

But treasure. Treasure!

"And I want you to promise," though he'd been trying very hard not to be overbearing or overprotective about this whole mad scheme, Sidon couldn't refuse himself one moment of levity and at least some restriction, "at the first sign of a Guardian, you don't proceed any further. It's dangerous enough, close as we all, without waltzing straight into the dreadful gauntlet of Calamity Ganon's cursed sanctuary....

"And I'll be fine on my own, as well," he assured her, finding another smile. "There probably hasn't been a Zora in these waters for the past fifty years; I'm sure I can manage to find a few interesting bits here and there myself."

"Cross my heart," Vette replied, drawing a little X over her chest. "I'm here for neat artifacts, not being attacked by something with a name like Calamity."

"Why not?" Lana asked. Her Academy days had involved more than one dangerous tomb; this didn't bother her. "Are there any interesting books or artifacts we should be looking for?"

"I can't even be certain there's been anyone other than monsters inside that castle in the last fifty years," Sidon informed Lana, his smile for her question a bit sad. "Perhaps a few Hylian treasure hunters, but if they've been successful, I've yet to hear of their exploits. Which is not, of course, to say that they weren't successful; Hylian tales don't usually reach Zora's Domain in general. So there's no telling what might be discovered inside that may be of value or interest."

"Well, I suppose we'll just have to find out then, won't we?" Lana said.

"Indeed, we will!" Sidon pumped his fist with encouragement, sending Lana his usually big grin, though it was, admittedly, a little harder to get the sparkle out of it in these particular circumstances. "I'm terribly interested to see what you might find, though please do be careful. That castle harbors the greatest scourge this land has ever know, so I truly cannot emphasize the danger involved in this particular venture."

And he felt Lana, insightful and reasonable as she was, was probably the last person except perhaps for Breq in this group that needed to hear that, but, at the same time, it wouldn't hurt to reiterate it, especially if she might be able to help remind the others if need be.

Lana nodded. "Understood. I'll make sure we're as careful as can be." She smiled at Sidon. "Particularly certain of us."

Nina's mood was... not likely to set Sidon's nerves at ease, had he any idea of much of it, but Nina had been, well, Nina-ing to the best of her ability, when she wasn't wandering off by herself to scribble in her diary and she was just itching for a chance to go and explore.

And the mention of danger? And avoiding the upper levels of the castle? And the Calamity?

Well... Nina was bouncing a bit on her toes. There were about a million things that could go wrong and she was absolutely certain she could survive all of them and really, it just sounded like a great deal of fun so...

As soon as she figured out a way to get away from everyone else, well, Nina was going to do what she did best and that was poking her nose in all the places it didn't belong.

Sorry-not-sorry, Sidon.

Yeah, good luck with that one, Nina. There was only one safe entrance into the castle, according to Sidon, and they all had to approach it together via the water, giving Prompto plenty of time to decide that he could definitely try to make Thursday up to her with this whole adventure.

...somehow.

...even if he was pretty sure he didn't really have anything that needed to be made up for in the first place, but that wasn't the point. Also, he kind of had that weird feeling that she might have been avoiding him, but he was really hoping that wasn't it. They all were just trying to soak in Zora's Domain being crazy incredible and stuff, that was all, right?

She might have had the chance to escape him while he was sort of just soaking in the grandeur of the docks themselves, practically a hidden underground palace in its own right, snapping a few quick pictures, but he caught himself before he got too distracted, hopping off the raft and going to catch up with her.

"Nina!" he called out to her as best he could in a whisper; it seemed the kind of place where shouting would definitely be bad. "Hey, Nina! If this place doesn't have team-up dungeon crawl ultra level written all over it, I don't know what would!"

"Ohmygosh."

Vette, where had you even come from?

"Team up! Team up!"

From behind that shrub, apparently. Sneaky Twi'lek.

And, like, Nina was a great liar but both of her besties coming out like that and wanting to hang out when that was the very last thing she wanted to do?

Yeah, that wasn't... really something she was going to be great at hiding.

"Why don't, like, you two go together?????" Nina suggested. "I wasn't going to go in very much at all????????"

In fact, she was thinking now that maybe the best thing to do would just be to go hang out by the raft.

Or swim back. She could keep Sidon company.

Well, that was...

Vette frowned a tiny bit. This wasn't doing anything to allay that weird feeling she had that Nina was avoiding her, no.

"Okay," she said, her tone a little dubious. "If you're sure. I'll bring you back something nice, then."

And Prompto, frowning, looking from Nina to Vette then back to Nina again, and his forehead wrinkled to add to his own doubtful look.

He still didn't know if Nina's even gotten that text from him, after everything on Thursday, but after all that on radio, to have her be all 'why don't, like, you two go together' definitely didn't feel right in any way, shape, or form.

But now hardly seemed the time to go into it, either.

No matter how big of a disappointment it was that, here they were, in an actual dungeon, about to go hunting for loot, and they might not even be doing it all together.

He wasn't going to acquiesce as quickly as Vette, either. "You sure you're sure?" he prompted, leaning in slightly, trying to give her his absolutely best 'how could you possibly say no to this face?' look.

Nina held up her hands, and laughed, though it didn't sound quite right.

"I'm, like, totally sure," she insisted. "Bring me back loot!!!!!!!!!!"

She wasn't sure at all but she did know she didn't want to go with both of them, not right now. Not when things were so messed up in her own head.

"And be careful, okay?????? Don't make me worry!!!!!"

Because even though she was upset with them, she didn't want them hurt.

"We'll be fine," Vette said, keeping some terseness out of her voice as best as she was able. "C'mon, Prompto, you heard the lady. Let's go get some loot."

She had no idea what was going on, but she did know that she was caught in the middle of something ugly here, and she didn't like that one bit.

Yeah, but...!

Prompto felt his confusion reach another level entirely, because it was hard not to feel like they were both saying things that they didn't entirely mean, but at the same time, he didn't have more than just a gut feeling and the odd tension in the air that had nothing to do with Dark Swirling Evil and old-ass castles. He chewed on his lower lip for a moment, frowning at Nina a moment longer, and, well, she'd said she felt like he didn't trust her or whatever, right? So he'd trust her on this.

And, at that point, if she was saying one thing and expecting another, well, then, maybe he wasn't the one with the trust problem after all.

So he tried to smile, didn't have a very good time with it, but he figured he could hide it well enough with an overly dramatic sweeping bow. "As the lady so wishes," he declared, "I am but her humble servant."

As he straightened, he unholstered his gun, slinging it over his shoulder a little as he cocked his head toward the castle, and offered Vette a smile, a little easier, but not with a whole lot of mirth in it. "And that loot's not going to find itself, right?"

"That loot needs somebody to loot it," Vette agreed, drawing both of her blasters and turning to face the castle, herself. "I think it's been waiting a long time for us to come along."

This was hard and messy and it was hurting her head and her heart, and she couldn't start making her way toward that castle fast enough.

The roiling sense of dread that was practically coming from it in waves had nothing on teenage insecurities.

And that... yeah... that was what she'd wanted, really, right?

Still, it hurt as Vette walked away.

Nina smiled for Prompto.

"You'd better catch up to her," she said, hoping that that sounded mostly normal. "And I'll see you guys later!!!!!!!!"

"Y-yeah," said Promtpo, who smiled back at Nina, but he knew he was pretty crap at making it convincing, so he had to make it awkward, knocking a little peace-sign of a salute-slash-wave at her, too. "Later."

And he hesitated, just that one moment longer, sighing slightly, before he turned around, too, to head after Vette, jogging not because he necessarily needed it to catch up, but mostly because it helped with the weird nervous energy.

"Just to clarify, I am not allowed to try and punch a Calamity, right?"

Yes, Yang was pouting a bit at the 'less peril' bit. Sure, treasure was cool, but danger? Was waaaaaay more fun.

And that would be Sidon, staring down at you, Yang, in absolute utter horror, his brain quickly working out whether or not he could manage to actually restrain her if he had to without being turned into fried fish.

"Absolutely not!" he said firmly. "I should rather like to return to Fandom with the same amount of friends that I left with!"

And he was fairly certain that Yang herself did not exactly relish the idea of a painful death or, worse, being soul-bound to a foreign castle for an eternity of torture, though he supposed he didn't exactly know Yang all that well, either.

For those electing not to go into the castle (or for when they're finished treasure hunting; there's no lack of them around this place, after all!) and perhaps exploring some of the Hyrule Field, they may find some beautiful vistas and interesting ruins, but they might also find Guardians!

It starts with a single ray of bright red light slicing through the air, landing on its target. They would easily be able to feel the heat of it, perhaps even feel a discordant energy in the air as the Guardian creeps forward on its spindly legs to move in for the attack.

After a long day of travel, exploring, and battling mechanical monsters, it might be time to unwind at the stable, were soft beds await, as does food that isn't fish, to get ready for another exciting journey tomorrow.

Of course, if anyone wants to traipse around the field at night fighting Stalkoblins, that's nobody's business but their own.
