Zora's Domain, Hyrule. Friday [05/04 FT].

Out of the desert and back to the cool, refreshing waters of Zora's Domain, it was the final day for the Hyrule trip, and Sidon had arranged for his friends to arrive to a wonderful party held in their honor. He and the other Zora had hung up bright and colorful banners and he'd convinced someone from the Wetland Stable to come up to the Domain to prepare a feast: Fish Pie and Seafood Paella, but also non-fish meat dishes, like Poultry Pilaf and Spicy Pepper Steak. And, of course, Creamy Heart Soup to celebrate the closeness of their friendship! There was Fruitcake and Nutcake, fresh bread and Honeyed Fruits. Sidon had tried his hand at a little cooking himself, but the results were a little dubious. Either way, his friends would certainly be eating well tonight!

And then relaxing in the peaceful Domain over stories of their adventure out into Hyrule, which he could hardly wait to hear. He was just glad they were back and they were safe and they would all return to Fandom Island with the shared experiences of his beloved homeland.

...But was it too early to start planning for the next trip back? There was still so much left to see!

Not only did Tip have about a billion photos from the whole trip, she also had managed to find herself a sword. She'd briefly asked around about returning it to whomever had lost it, but everyone insisted that finding it meant she could keep it. Eventually, she'd stopped trying to argue.

It was so pretty!

"A souvenir?" Sidon asked with a grin when he noticed the glinting of the new blade in Tip's possession, coming to join her for a moment. "I think it will suit you well. How was your journey to the desert, Tip?"

"It was pretty hard to resist," Tip said with a smile. "And everyone swears I can just take it. The desert was fun, though we missed you. I tried out seal surfing." And had sand scrapes in odd areas to prove it.

"Norman mentioned the seal surfing as well," Sidon said, "but perhaps you could elaborate. I ws under the impression there was no water out in Gerudo Desert, so how would they surf?"

"On the actual sand," Tip said. "The seals, like, swim through it, and you hang on to a rope and ride along behind them. Like -- have you ever seen anyone go water skiing?"

"Of course," Sidon said with a nod. "It is a favored summer past time for nearly all young Zora."

They didn't even need skis!

"And, of course, I've skied when we took that school trip to the frozen, snow covered Alps! So is it a bit like that, only on sand rather than snow? How fascinating!"

"Yup! And they catch their own seals, too. I met this really cool girl who's training to be the best surfer around and got to meet her seal Milton."

"Oh, that sounds delightful," Sidon said with a chuckle. "Well, perhaps not for me, I don't particularly like sand except perhaps in the warm evening sun after a good long swim, but what a wonderful experience."

"It was really cool," Tip said. "This whole trip has been. Thank you so much for organizing it and inviting me, Sidon, it means a lot."

"Oh, no, no," Sidon shook his head with verve and vigor, "thank you for coming, Tip! It has been...absolutely extraordinary to have you all come and see my homeland, and it's meant to much to my people to meet you all. They've been so curious, and, to be completely honest, it's nice to have a bit of exciting news and new people to meet. I can already feel some spirits lifting around here. I'm just so pleased that you all seem to have enjoyed yourselves here as I have enjoyed having you."

"Things have been that quiet around here, huh?" Tip asked. "Everyone has been really curious about where we're from and what Fandom's like." And what Sidon was like, of course, but Tip wasn't going to spoil anyone's game by telling him that. "It can be really weird sometimes, getting thrown into a whole new culture and world, but everyone here has been super nice about it."

This trip beat the hell out of her first trip to New Boovworld, for instance. And not just because they hadn't had to break anyone out of jail.

"It sounds like perhaps you might know a bit about how I felt when I first arrived in Fandom, then," Sidon offered with a smile. "A whole new culture and world, but everyone had been super nice about it and welcoming. It makes me feel so pleased to hear that everyone," said with a particular emphasis to make sure that she knew that she was certainly a big part of that everyone, "has been so kind on your visit. I really do love my home; I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to share it."

"I can see why, there's a lot to be proud of around here. J.Lo is going to be super jealous when I show him all my pictures."

He'd also be glad not to be mistaken for lunch again, though.

"Lookit you with a fancy new sword," Uma said, flopping down beside her. She hadn't bothered asking about returning the sword; she'd helped fight off a Guardian with it, it was hers now.

Besides, it felt good to have a weapon on her hip again. She just wished she had a second, her left hand felt empty.

"It's so pretty!" Tip said, because sometimes the narrative just had to be repeated out loud. "I can't wait to practice with it." She looked over at Uma with a smile. "Good trip, huh."

"Got a lot of swag," Uma said carelessly, like that was the only thing she'd enjoyed. There had been a lot more and part of her almost wanted to burble about the beauty of the world and the delicious food and how oddly nice everyone had been--but that felt weird and more than a little foreign.

"Wanna spar a bit now?" Uma asked. "I'm not used to the curve yet on mine, either. Don't mind a bit of practice."

"Sure!" Tip grinned. "You're still going to beat the pants off me, but that's probably always going to be true."

"Probably," Uma said, because she wasn't one for regular modesty, never mind the false variety. "But I first picked up a sword when I was a kid. It feels weirder to be unarmed now than the reverse."

Good luck getting her to use the weapons locker, administration.

Yeah, Tip didn't even know that locker existed. And she had a gun that erased things.

"Did your mom teach you how to use it?"

Uma let out a bitter laugh before she could even help herself. "Not hardly," she said. "Mom saw anything that wasn't me working my fingers to the bone at the restaurant a waste of time. Even school some days."

Or sleep. Or eating. Or--never mind, it was stupid.

"I didn't need her anyway," she muttered.

Oops, she'd stepped on a sore spot.

"Well, clearly. Self-taught, then?"

Wasn't Tip's fault. Few people expected to hear, 'Nah, my parent didn't love me' from someone. Just ask Lonnie in Auradon.

"Not exactly," Uma said with a small smile, now that she could leave the topic of her mother behind. "There was an old pirate when I was a kid. Saw me struggling to hold it right. Gave me pointers in exchange for food for Bonny. Then when I was older, Harry and I sparred a lot and Jonas taught me how to fight lefty."

"Sounds like you had some good friends, then. Even if most of the rest of the island sucked."

"That's for damn sure, on both counts," Uma admitted. She was feeling too mellow to argue that they were crew not friends, the way she had with Sidon. The longer she was here, the more the distinction blurred anyway. "I hope they're okay. And they don't think that I abandoned them."

Beat.

"Or that I'm dead, I guess. That would suck too." But not as much as them thinking she'd deliberately left them all behind.

"And there's no way to get in touch with them, huh," Tip said. "I'm guessing none of them have phones."
